Depot charging or fast charging?
Most fleets charge overnight at the depot on AC chargers or lower-power DC units, which keeps hardware and connection costs down. Vehicles that come back mid-shift or run double shifts need DC fast charging for a quick turnaround. Many depots end up with a mix, sized around shift patterns and duty cycles. Buses have their own requirements, covered on our electric bus charging page.
Managing charging across the fleet
When many vehicles plug in at once, load management spreads the available supply across the chargers and prioritises the vehicles leaving first, so the depot can charge the whole fleet without a larger grid connection. Where the depot has solar, surplus generation can go to vehicles charging during the day.
